As part of a significant renovation effort that aimed to rethink how riders and passengers used the parking garage, a visual wayfinding solution was developed for the BART Millbrae Station. The solution integrated the existing concrete environment and introduced bright, bold graphics to lead people towards the trains. The implementation of the design was executed by BART’s internal team.
Civic Center Station
During a large-scale renovation at the Civic Center BART station in San Francisco, a temporary wayfinding signage system was designed to guide riders toward key arts destinations in the area. These signs—all in different languages—served as guideposts, covering three separate color-coded areas accessible near the station.
19th Oakland Station
BART completed a significant transformation of the 19th Street Station in Oakland in 2023. Many improvements were instituted to enhance the riders’ experience. As part of the effort, a series of banners were designed to activate and repurpose the station’s payphone alcove spaces. After the initial installation, the backlit panels would feature rotating artwork in the coming years, all organized by the BART Art Program.
